Lake Tahoe isn't only scenic - it's also a great place to have fun!  From casinos to climbing, there's something for everyone at Lake Tahoe.  We've listed a few places that you might want to check out while you're there.  We haven't been to every one of these places, but they do come highly recommended.

  • Upscale Casual - Café Fiore, 1169 Ski Run Blvd #5, South Lake Tahoe, CA 503-541-2908.  Voted one of “The Best Places to Kiss in Northern California,” Fiore is a seven table Italian Café with some outdoor seating. (dinner; reservations, someone to kiss, recommended). www.cafefiore.com
  • CasualThe Fresh Ketch, 2435 Venice Dr., South Lake Tahoe, CA –  530-541-5683 In the Tahoe Keys Marina with a nice lake view and reasonably priced seafood dishes.
  • CasualCecil’s Steak & Brew, 4118 Lake Tahoe Blvd. (near the Marriott properties and Embassy Suites) Family owned and operated brew pub and sports bar with bar style food.  Bartenders have some knowledge about CA microbrews.
  • CasualMcP’s, 4093 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA.  530-542-4435 Just across the street from the Marriott, McP’s is a fun, relaxing pub with great selection of beer and American style food.
  • Pizza - Lake Tahoe Pizza Co., 1168 Emerald Bay Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA (530) 544-1919. The menu has eclectic choices like the Pizzagna and the mogul mashers (think massive mounds of meat) which will leave your taste buds in a state of nirvana - which is a lot to expect from a pizza, but their fans are quite smitten.

 Family Fun & Adventure

  • Tahoe Trips and Trails – Activities include hiking, mountain biking, lake kayaking, river rafting, horseback riding and picnics. (800) 581-HIKE
  • Hike the Prey Harbor Trail, ending up at Skunk Harbor where you can don your swim trunks and go for a swim. This is an easy one-and-a-half mile trail with pretty views of the lake. No skunks 'til July.  
  • Cruise the lake on the M.S. Dixie 2 which heads out from Zephyr Cove Marina in Nevada. This is a old-style paddle-wheeler that ventures along the east and south shores, including Emerald Bay. Call 775-588-3508.
  • For a fishing expedition your kids are likely to enjoy, take a trip to the Tahoe Trout Farm in South Lake Tahoe. This is a stocked lake that offers free admission, plus bait and tackle. You don't need a license and there's no limit—you just pay for what you catch. And you can keep them in your hotel room mini-bar until you're ready to leave.   • Tahoe Sailing Charters features daily afternoon and sunset cruises from the Tahoe City Marina.  Call (530) 583-6200.
  • Camp Richardson Resort & Marina features all sorts of fun things to do.
    • The Marina featuring Boat Rentals, Waverunners, Kayaks/Paddleboats, Sportfishing, Guided Tours, Waterski School and Fishing Carters. Call 530-542-6570
